Gulf Health Magazine

The Media Partner for Health Sector in the Gulf Region

Two decades and the journey continues..

In 2006, my friend Hussein Al-Mannai and I launched the first specialized magazine in the medical field in the United Arab Emirates. We called it the Medical Business News Magazine… The general concept of the magazine was new, as it combined two pillars, the first of which is health awareness and education, which is the classical concept known to all medical magazines. As for the second pillar, it is business, as we have produced an important section of the magazine to inform readers of everything related to hospitals, medical companies, pharmaceutical companies, and other institutions active in the health field, in order to contribute to supporting the influence of these companies and promoting their products on the one hand, and helping the patient to choose the facility or medical product he needs well..

I do not claim to be exaggerating if I say that this new concept of the magazine that we adopted was unique in its kind, which made it receive a great response from all parties, and thus enabled our magazine to gain the support of a significant number of hospitals and medical companies that found in our magazine a flexible and effective bridge to communicate with people in general and those seeking treatment in particular. They also found in our magazine a suitable platform To inform the public of its news and achievements, which contributed to creating a dynamic in the relationship between these health institutions and the public, especially in light of the absence of more vital, timely and influential alternatives at that time, as is the case now with the development of electronic journalism, social media and the platforms emanating from them that have influence and effectiveness, and there are many of them today..

Development is one of the laws of life & We are always required to keep pace with developments

The magazine continued to be published for six years, and in the meantime, the health sector in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries was witnessing a strong dynamic led by ambitious government plans based on a unified vision to create an advanced infrastructure aimed, on the one hand, at developing health care facilities and, on the other hand, at reducing the financial drain caused by the exorbitant costs of treating its citizens abroad, which resulted in a rapid development of government health facilities in all Gulf countries, which was competed on the other hand by huge investments from the private sector in the health field… And because we are required as specialized media to keep pace with the developments in the sector through which we practice our media activity, we saw no alternative but to develop our geographical scope as well to keep pace with the developments in the health sector witnessed by the Gulf region. As a result, the name of our magazine was changed from Medical and Business News to Gulf Health Magazine.. That was in early 2012 when it was issued for an issue The first of our magazine with its new name and vision, and for history and honesty, our magazine at that time found all the welcome from many governmental and private bodies, the most important of which was the Executive Office of the Council of Ministers of Health of the Gulf Cooperation Council States , which was managed with competence by Professor Dr. Tawfiq bin Ahmed Khoja, may God protect him, as his openness to cooperation and constructive partnerships with the media enabled us to sign a cooperation agreement with the Executive Office of the Council of Ministers of Health of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to jointly issue four bulletins of the Gulf Health Directory  in addition to various other activities.

Because development is one of the laws of life and because we are always required to keep pace with developments and even to always be the first to innovate and with the emergence of a new phenomenon that quickly took shape and imposed its presence in the health field in the Middle East, which is medical tourism, I did not hesitate for long to make the decision to transform the Gulf Health Magazine into a magazine specialized in the field of medical tourism, which I named the Middle East Medical Tourism Magazine… And as we raced against time every time, our Middle East Medical Tourism Magazine was the only magazine in its specialty and the first of its kind in the Middle East and the second on the global level..

And with the passing of the years The Gulf region, thanks to its governments’ awareness of the medical tourism sector, has become a focal point in the field of medical tourism. Medical tourism is no longer a Middle Eastern affair, but rather a focus of interest for both governmental and private entities in the Gulf countries. This has necessitated our focus on the health sector in our Gulf region, with its two aspects: health care and medical tourism. Therefore, our decision was for the magazine to return as it was… the Gulf Health Magazine… This is the journey of our magazine, which is approaching twenty years of innovation and diligence. We have always tried to keep pace with the transformations and to be a support for the health sector. We have succeeded sometimes and failed at other times, but the continuation of any institution, especially a specialized media outlet, for a period of nearly twenty years is in itself a success that would not have been achieved without the grace of God first, then our efforts and belief in our message and the support of our partners in the health sector for our magazine, without a doubt.
